You're invited to contribute to this important celebration of trade unionism, to be held this April
At its meeting last month Dundee Trade Union Council welcomed plans for a new festival to be held in April 2024.
A call has gone out to trade unions and those interested in trade union values to organise events.
Film showings, exhibitions, talks, historical walks; music and song will all feature in the programme. Organisations are being asked to plan events between April 12th and April 28th. These dates will coincide with the Scottish Trade Union Congress’s return to the Caird Hall for its annual gathering.
Mike Arnott, President of the STUC, said: 'Speak Oot will be a festival for all Dundee's communities connected to trades unionism. We are looking to make links with environmental groups, tenants groups, youth groups and others. Any group that brings people together to further social justice is a welcome participant. Internationalism, history and our connection to the arts will be celebrated'.
Speak Oot's organisers hope to see events in venues across the city. Our libraries, schools and cultural venues will be likely locations - but we want to be imaginative. They are open to other possibilities.
Speak Oot! can be connected via its Facebook page or by email: speakoot@gmail.com Those wishing to take part are asked to complete a simple form by January 26th.
