This Saturday, 25 November, sees the important annual day of action against racism and fascism organised by the Scottish Trade Union Congress (STUC).
You’re invited to rally at Glasgow Green at 10.30 am, and then to march off at 11am through the streets of Glasgow to rally at The Technology and Innovation Centre at University of Strathclyde.
The commitment to challenging all forms of racism on this date is that, back in the 1980s, the far-right British National Party (BNP) attempted to hold rallies on St Andrew's Day in Glasgow.
The trade union movement rallied behind the Scottish Asian Action Committee (SAAC) to organise a day of action against racism, and it has become an annual event every year since then.
The event shows that the labour movement is committed to claiming St Andrew’s Day as an inclusive day for everyone and a day for us to come together and show our commitment to tackling racism, fascism and far right ideology.
